The Beginning
Helmut Thielsch establishes Thielsch Engineering, offering field services and metallurgical laboratory services. Rhode Island office opens with 13 employees.

1989
Newly formed departments include Construction Testing Services (CTS), Field Engineering Services (FES) and Nondestructive Testing (NDT). Field Services expands to become Professional Engineering (PED), Utility Engineering Services (UES) and Pulp & Paper Industry Services (PPI). Over 50 employees.

1995
Acquisition of RISE Engineering, adding energy efficiency services. Over 100 employees.

1996
Acquisition of ESS Laboratory, adding environmental testing services.

1998
Acquisition of BAL Laboratory, adding microbiological testing services.

2003
The passing of our founder, Helmut Thielsch, at the age of 83.

2008
Thielsch becomes a
100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with the purchase of the firm from the Thielsch family.

2009
Acquisition of Ocean State Testing. Thielsch Welding School opens to train the next generation of welders.

2012
Acquisition of Creative Environment Corporation to supplement Gaskell Associates, the company’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing/fire protection design resource.

Acquisition of Coldmasters, our first entry into providing commercial HVAC/R installations and service.

Acquisition of Analytical Balance expands our water testing capabilities into Southeastern Massachusetts.

2022
Acquisition of Holden Mechanical in Central Massachusetts enhances our mechanical contracting and industrial services

2023
Thielsch rebrands to The RISE Group, Inc.
AirMasters HVAC Services joins the company to deepen our ability to deliver HVAC services in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
